Legal work relating to the entry into force of the WTO: 1993–95

Like some other contributions to this book, this is a memoir coupled with reflections on the history of legal affairs in the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), including dispute settlement and the role of staff who worked on disputes. I started work in the GATT Secretariat in May 1990, and left shortly after the Marrakesh Ministerial Meeting in April 1994. In this chapter, I focus on the Uruguay Round period, with reflections on dispute settlement before and after.
