Introduction
The Trade Policy Review Mechanism (TPRM) was first established on a trial basis by the GATT contracting parties in April 1989. The Mechanism became a permanent feature of the World Trade Organization under the Marrakesh Agreement which established the WTO in January 1995.

During the review period (2015-18), the Canadian economy was characterized by moderate GDP growth, low inflation, a relatively stable federal government debtto- GDP ratio, a declining current account deficit, and real exchange rate depreciation.

Coopération technique et formation
En 2012, l’Institut de formation et de coopération technique (IFCT) a renforcé à la fois le contenu et l’exécution des programmes d’assistance technique et de formation de l’OMC. Il a aussi renforcé sa capacité d’interagir avec les bénéficiaires dans toutes les régions et son rôle de coordination pour le renforcement des capacités commerciales. L’OMC a entrepris 343 activités d’assistance technique en 2012, dont la plupart étaient destinées aux fonctionnaires. La gestion axée sur les résultats a été encore renforcée en ce qui concerne la conception, la gestion, l’exécution et l’évaluation des programmes de renforcement des capacités.
